Reflection

1.A hero becomes a hero by helping people and always being there for them.

2.Project Description- What was the Hero in My Eyes project?
The hero in my eyes project was that we had to pick someone who we consider our hero. Then write an essay about why we consider them our hero.

3.Process- What steps did you take to get to the final product?
We had to do drafts and got together with our peers, so they can edit them. Then type the final one.

4.Reflection- What did you learn? What challenges did you encounter? What would you do the same or different? How will this help you later?
I learned that a hero isn't always someone who has powers. It can be anyone who does something for someone else.

My challenge was doing the Hero CS, I didn't really get how to do it.

What i would've done differently would be to probably add more detail to my final draft to make it more descriptive.

This would help me improve on my draft and also to improve my writing.

She Made Me Who I Am Today


“Careful!” Tania said. As she took away the lighter and told me, “That’s something you don’t play with.” I always wanted to have her black hair and her big black eyes. She has always been thin. Her big smile looked just like my mothers.

“Do you want me to pass you ingredients?” I asked, the sun shining through the windows and the birds on top of the houses. She was making me a chocolate cake.
“Pass me the milk and pay close attention on how you make it.”

Tania let me help her make the cake because my mom wasn’t home to do it. My mom was working, in fact she always was. I barely saw her when she got back from work for at least an hour, but that was at night. She worked everyday of the week. I wished I could spend more time with her, but she had to work. She had black curly hair and light brown eyes. She wasn’t skinny but either fat. She is just perfect to me. I wanted to tell her all the exciting things that happened at school, but I couldn’t, I had to tell my sister. She is only two years older than me. She acted like she was grown up. She has always been there for me. When I needed help in my homework, she was there. When I cried because I didn’t like the food she made that day, she was there making me something else so I would shut up.

I still loved my mom; I had to understand that if she could, she would be there doing all the things my sister was doing for me, but she couldn’t, she had to work for us. I loved them both the same. I couldn’t ask for anything else, I had everything. Two moms, that always helped me in everything. My sister made me who I am today. As soon as we were done making cake, we sat down and poured some milk in our cups, and started eating. It tasted like sweet chocolate milk. It was really warm and sugary.

I could see all the lights of the houses outside of the window. The air coming through the window gave my body chills. “Did you do anything exciting at your school today?” she asked me.
“Not really, the only exciting about today was this.” “I learned how to make chocolate cake, now I could make you one on your birthday.” I replied.
She laughed, “Well I’m glad you liked the cake, but now is time for you to go to bed.” She took me to my room and said, “Go to sleep ok? I have to go do my homework.”
“Ok, good night Thank you for everything.” I said.

She smiled and walked towards the computer to start on her homework. My sister was my everything. She taught me a lot of things. To me she had everything a hero has. It might not be powers like in the movies, she just had something special. To me she was my hero. I couldn’t be more proud of her. As I laid down staring into the ceiling I couldn't stop thinking about today. It was such an exciting day for me, she taught me something new. I was thrill to go to school and tell my friends what I had learned. My eyes half closed as everything started blurring out. I wanted to dream about making my sister the biggest chocolate cake on her birthday.

The Origin of Zero

I thought the articles were very interesting. I looked at the number zero as any other number. Both of the articles both talked about the cultures of zero. The exact origin of zero has not been yet pinpointed. In one of the articles a man named Fabonacci was said to have brought zero back from north Africa. It's still a mystery of who found zero.

In my opinion, I think it was more than one person who invented zero. I think the articles had really deep details about the number zero's expedition all over the world, and it included labeled maps to help you understand even more.

I really enjoyed reading both of this articles because i found really cool facts and background about zero.

The Special Day



Catching the signal from one of her friends, Angela brushed her skirt, took a deep breath and walked towards were he was sitting. Her blonde straight hair swinging side to side as she was walking. Her green eyes were as green as the grass. She was wearing a black skirt with baby blue stripes on it. Angela was also wearing a white tank top. Her arms were an earthquake. Angela thought about how time never waits for anyone.
She decided to finally talked to the guy she has always had a crush on. She had being waiting centuries for this moment to come. She sat next to him in a bench that was at the bottom of a tree and said, “I always see you around and you’re always sitting here alone.” “My name is Angela by the way.”

“Hey my is Mario I always sit here because I love to just chill.” “I like you’re name, I see around too you seem like a really cool girl.”

Angela giggled, “Thank you you’re really cute and you seem like a really nice guy.” They talked for at least 20 minutes and all that was going through Angela’s head was how bad she wanted a date with him. When all of the sudden he asked her if she wanted to go out to dinner.

“I’ll love to,” she replied.

“Great, well here’s my number call me.” He grabbed her hand and gave her a piece of paper with his number on it. Angela was thrilled, she couldn't wait for dinner. She went back to class and told her friend the whole story.

Humanities- vignette

At One Point in My Life

I was only 4 years old when I felt my life had changed. Just when you think things can’t get any worse, they do. I don’t remember much, but from what I do remember, was when she told me she would always have me in her heart, and that she would come back soon. My mom walked out the door with her suitcase and tears on her face. While me and my sister who was only 6 years old, stared at her wondering why?

It hurt me to see my sister cry. I remember her telling me, “I am scared, I want mommy to come back.” She had always been sensitive, even though she was the oldest one it seem like I was. I don’t really like to cry and be weak. My mom was a strong woman. I always wanted to be like her. She is like a beautiful rose. I saw all this as a big scary rollercoaster. I was scared because I had never been alone. My mom had always been there for me when I needed her.

Tears kept running down my face. As my sister held me tight I started thinking why my mom left. While she was hugging me I thought about the night I saw my mom arguing with my dad. He had black hair and black eyes. He wasn’t short nor tall. To me he was the best, until that night. They were talking about how there wasn’t enough money and I remember my dad getting mad. I couldn’t stand being around him. I hated him for all the things he did to my mom. He screamed at her like if my mom was his worst enemy. The fight sounded like if a million people were screaming at me all at once. He told her, “ I can’t be with you guys anymore!” I heard my mom crying.

I heard my grandma talking to me, but I wasn’t paying attention to her. She told me, “Jocelyn everything is going to be ok, you have to be strong baby.” I stopped thinking what I had seen that night and went back to reality. I didn’t know when my mom was going to come back. It felt like part of my heart had left with reasons that I didn’t even understand. My grandma’s hands were comforting me as she explained where my mom went, but it made sense. She talked about how my mom and dad fought all the time, and how there love came to an end.

It felt like an eternity since she had left. It had only been hours since she walked out the door. I was feeling something that couldn’t be explained. I tried to be as strong as I could. Hoping time would pass by fast. All I could do is just pray. Every night I prayed and told God, “Please help my mom get money fast, so she would be back soon.” I wished all this was just a nightmare, but it wasn’t. I realized all my mom was doing was for us. Everything happens for a reason. By her leaving made me grow up even faster. I saw the reality of life. It opened my eyes, and even though I was only four years old I saw how hard life could be.

This sound is a really creepy sound. It gave me chills all over my body. To me it sounded like if you were lost in the woods and a really scary man wanted to do something really bad to you. I heard like about two girls crying in the back. It seemed like if they wanted to run away from him, but they couldn't because they were in the middle of nowhere. There hearts beating as fast as a cheetah running fast. Desperate for someone to help them. The guy seemed like if he had mentally problems. It seemed like if he wanted to kiss someone. He was breathing as if someone was choking him. I felt like i wanted to go to the place they were in and help them from that petrifying men. The sound fills you up with strength. Whoever listens to this sound gets strength, that even the weakest person would want to go and help those little girls. Them crying and knowing they are in trouble makes you feel something inside. You feel strong and would like to be there to help them.

The Locker Problem


The solution to this problem is 31 lockers remain open. The lockers that stayed open are 1,4,9,16,25,36,49,64,81 and so on. We know because these are perfect squares. There is a pattern that goes from an odd number to an even one. Each locker gets changed twice for each set of factors. The perfect squares are the only numbers that have an odd number of factors. If a locker is touched an odd number of times, it will be open. This depends on how many students touched it . A locker touched an even number of times, it will be left closed. Therefore, only the lockers with an odd number of factors will be left open leaving the perfect squares. Perfect squares have a number of factors because factors come in pairs and the square root of a perfect square is only one factor. This graph shown below gives an idea of the pattern of the problem and how we got the solution. It gives you and idea of how the pattern works.

S.L.O.B Character - What I Did This Weekend

I woke up it was a really sunny day. It was Saturday I had to wake up early so I can help August make honey. In the kitchen was May and Rosaleen making breakfast for everyone. June was the last one to wake up. I had a really bad dream. I dreamt with T-ray coming all the way over here and taking me away. I wanted to tell August the truth, but i was to scared of what her reaction would be.

I thought it would be too soon to tell her. I guess it's going to take time until i do. Being here made me feel so much better. I didn't want to leave. I wanted to stay with them. I would hate going back with the mean monster T-ray. Rosaleen has been acting weird. I feel like she's not the same anymore. Last night we got into an argument about my mom. She told me to forget about it, that she was dead. I felt so much anger against her. Something that I have never felt for her, but I wanted that feeling to go away.

After breakfast, August told me to sit down with her outside for a while. I didn't know if probably this would be a good time to tell her what is really going on. I couldn't do it. I wasn't ready, I just hoped that when i do tell her. She could put herself in my place and try to help me out. The day past by fast, after working hard making honey. I went to bed and asked Mary to help me tell August the truth soon. I fell asleep ready for another day of honey.

Favorite fictional hero

My favorite fictional hero would have to be Spider Man.I think he has really cool powers and he liked helping people.Spider Man is a character that got bitten by a spider and got spider senses.

I like the movie Spider Man 3, because he had a bad spirit which lasted for a while.
He felt more powerful, but he finally realized that it made him weaker so he overcomes the bad spirit and becomes good again.

This hero is special, because it relates to everyone. At one point in life we make mistakes and think its good for us, but we end up realizing it wasn't. Just like Spider Man realize the bad spirit he had was wrong.

What is Math? What is Physics?



To me math is like a big roller coaster. It could be fun, but at the same time its kind of scary.
Math is full of work. You need to be really patient. It can be really stressful sometimes, but it will help you. People need to know math because you need it everywhere you go. Everyone sees Math different it actually depends on their own experience they've had. Some people like Math some people don't. I'm not a big fan of it,but i need to learn Math because it's gonna help me in the future.

Physics to me is just basically the scientific study of matter and energy, and how they interact with each other. Physics forms the basis of present and future technology. It's just related to electricity,mass,force etc.. Its how everything around us is working. I don't know much about physics, but i look foward on doing that this year. I hope Physics is fun and not that hard.
